And wannabe daredevil Brodester is anything but an everyman, dropping what probably amounted to a college education's worth in G's to jump out of airplanes for kicks. But it's execution in this game was laughably bad.

People can spew all they want about how it's supposed to be this everyman who has to learn how to fight and whatnot. And therein lies the crux of my argument. I'm sorry if that game upset you, but this thread is about FC3, and my opnion on playing as this sniveling little phony. How sad.No one here but you thus far has mentioned COD, brah. They lack the intelligence to fully appreciate a game like FC3. It's unfortunate what a long trail of COD games does to some people's brains. But to say you don't like original Jason is like you don't like any average American, lol, cause just about everyone I have ever known act like him and his friends. It's only after he gets brainwashed by the natives and his new lifestyle that he develops differently. Everything he says and the way he says it just seems exactly like what any typical person would be thinking in the same situation. I don't understand how anyone can dislike Jason from the start. He stopped caring about his friends, he wanted to kill just for the sake of killing. This is where Jason started to get quite dark and i started not liking him.
Once you got to south island and beyond, and he had been immersed in the tribe's affairs, and he had killed hundreds of times, I don't remember one instance of "whining" at all. But towards the end there was no whining whatsoever. What game were you playing? I like Jason near the start of the story because you could relate to him. The (superb) action just overrode any credibility behind the character's development into a one-man tsunami to me. The heavy emphasis on killing everything that moves in the game just doesn't jive well in sharing the limelight with a delicate flower surrounded by silver spoon fed friends on his journey to become Rambo. I agree with the OP, I would have rather played as the brother.

Specifically, it's dropping November 30th in the UK and December 4th in the US."I thought he was great, the idea was you weren't supposed to be trained to handle this situation, the game is about personal growth, and going to extents Jason thought were impossible to save those that mattered. So its very un-Ubisoft day-and-date-with-consoles launch seems to be moving ahead unimpeded.
In other news, Far Cry 3 went gold recently - for all platforms, including PC. Then again, FC3's creators have said there's more to it than meets the eye in the past, so I'm hoping the thick layer of cheese smeared across the lens is purposeful - not simply a product of, well, writing a story for a first-person shooter. The crazy cast of villains will probably be decently entertaining, but Far Cry 2 this ain't. He speaks with conviction, too, but I think we all know what's swimming around in the back of his mind: he punched a shark, and he liked it. And then, after that brief spasm of profundity, we get Jason talking about his captive friends and such.
In that moment, we find the truest definition of the human condition: not shark. But really, is there any tale more gripping or universal than that of one dude, one shark, and one fist? The biting, the panicking, the punching as beady little eyes register no pain. Admittedly, Jason does other things in Far Cry 3's new story trailer aside from punching a shark.
